Ah-Ha!!
As one aspires to ascend, one must align with one’s truth.
But what does this really mean?
We ultimately align through our actions and our words.
What we choose as our words and as our actions tells the Universe what we intend as our truth. So, I ask, what words and actions does the reader choose?
Deeper Dive
As I was backing our truck and trailer into a particularly unusual campsite (I basically had to parallel park in a space too small for truck and trailer), two men walked by. I had to stop in order to allow them to pass. I had my window open (for some reason it seems to help me orient where truck and trailer are while backing). As is the way of campgrounds, they made a friendly comment about our license plate’s state. And then they commented they were fans of a certain sports team. I greeted them and then simply smiled. No need to agree or disagree for there was nothing for me to attach to nor align with in the conversation. They continued on their way, and I focused on Steve’s assistance into the awesome campsite (on a peninsula with water on both sides, oriented so we can see sunset on one side of the trailer and sunrise on the other. Perfect.)
Align to Ones’ Truth Through One’s Words
That evening as I sat and watched the full moon rise over the lake, I had the ah-ha awakening: we ultimately align to truth through our actions and our words. It occurred to me how in the not-so-distant past, I would have made some comment to the men about a sports team even though I know nothing nor care not about the subject. I would have commented just to fit in or be liked… by complete strangers. And doing so would have aligned me to a truth that is not really mine. It would have sent me on a trajectory not aligned with my spirit-essence higher Self.
This concept came to me many years ago through a very good and easy-to-read book by an amazingly adept man of Toltec descent: The Four Agreementsby Don Miguel Ruiz. (See our Resources page)
Don Miguel says:
“The first agreement is to be impeccable with your word. (his italics) … Your word is the power that you have to create… It is through the word that you manifest everything … what you dream, what you feel, and what you really are, will all be manifested through the word.”
I have revisited his words many, many times. Each time, a new level of understanding is revealed. And tonight, his words echo once again in my mind as I ponder what I am manifesting through the word. I gently persuade the reader to ponder the same.
Align to One’s Truth Through One’s Actions
We also proclaim what we believe is our truth through our actions. What we choose to do puts us on a path. But, is that path aligned with our truth, aligned with our higher Self?
I use my friend as an example. She recently told me she was attending certain events even though they no longer resonated with her. She was going because she did not want to hurt other people’s feelings, and because she felt obligated. Thus, she spent her time attaching herself to something that she no longer believed. Her actions were not aligned with her truth, but she continued anyway. As such, she was wandering down a false path.
As another example of aligning via one’s actions: I know many people who continue to proclaim they belong to a certain religion even though they do not regularly attend services and they outwardly admit they do not really believe its teachings. This actually dumbfounds me. Through their actions, they choose to turn their back on their internal truth, completely disrespect their higher self, and align themselves to a truth they do not believe. They are wasting a great deal of their life going down a false path and are further distancing themselves from their true Self. I must add a note here. I also know many people who are fully engaged in their religious beliefs, integrate it into daily life, and align their actions with their true path. For these people, their religious beliefs support their true path and their higher self. Bravo. That’s an example of perfect alignment.
So again, I gently urge the reader to ponder what actions one takes. Are they aligned with what is truly believed, desired, and intended?
Conclusion
We align ourselves through our words and our actions. What we choose as our words and as our actions tells the Universe what we intend as our truth.
Be impeccable in one’s word – do not say anything unless one truly means it.
Be faultless in one’s action – do not act unless one truly desires it.
As the old cliché says: walk the walk and talk the talk
And be patient with oneself – remember we are perfectly imperfect, and we make mistakes. That’s okay, that’s how one learns.
