Quick Summary
To deserve is based on ego’s demand of rightful ownership.
To be worthy is to stand equally as One with all in the cosmos.
Deeper Dive
Today I ponder the subtle nuance between ‘deserve’ and ‘worthiness’. I am shown a clear differentiation today. I know some use these words interchangeably, and I have as well in the past. No judgement here, just a simple opening to deeper wisdom. An awakening to the nuances in the words we choose to use and the energy that’s wrapped around them. And so, I share what I have learned today.
Deserve – deeper wisdom
To feel one ‘deserves’ is to allow ego (small self) to demand what it feels is rightfully his/hers. It is based on the concept of separation. If one deserves it, then therefore, others may not be so deserving. It is steeped in a hierarchical view point.
When I say “I deserve …”, I feel my small self (ego) quickly take over and get all puffed up like it needs to defend its “deserving” position. Again, the word ‘deserve’ is 3-D ego based. It invokes energy of separation; right or wrong, good or bad, us or them, reward or punishment.
Worthiness – deeper wisdom
Worthiness is our spirit-essence stepping forth to be witnessed as equal to all other entities. It is a self-recognition of being respectfully One with all, not separate. Being in a state of worthiness brings forth a knowing that all equal no matter the role, no matter the soul’s maturity level.
Each entity, no matter the form, is worthy of knowing self as equal to all other entities; saints and sinners alike, trees and rocks and humans and ascended masters alike, rats and snakes and eagles and jaguars alike. All are equal because all are simply a pin-point of energy from the One Source. No entity is worthier than another for all are equally divine. Notice that we each simply have a different role to play and are at different levels of soul maturity. For example, an elementary student is just as worthy to be respected as a high school student. The same concept applies here.
How to know whether intentions are based on deserving or worthiness?
Moving to a state of worthiness is part of humanity’s ascension process; to recognize self as One with and equal to all. Seeking to know Self as worthy is an honorable undertaking.
Using intuition, one can tell whether the statement, thought, or intention is based on the concept of deserving (ego-centric) or based on the concept of worthiness (spirit-centric). The words are often interchanged in sentences. However, the true intention becomes obvious based on what energy is put into the entire sentence. One cannot simply start using ‘worthy’ in place of ‘deserving’ in all one’s statements. The energy still shows through.
For example, I state: “I am worthy of having the campsites on either side of us unoccupied for the duration of our stay.” This statement does not feel harmonious, rather it feels full of tension. The energy of the words being used clearly makes it a statement based on ego’s feeling it deserves. So, even though I used the word ‘worthy’, I was actually saying: “I am deserving of having the campsites on either side of us unoccupied…”. This feels more accurate, but it is definitely based on separation. It basically says that I deserve to occupy three campsites and therefore others do not deserve to be here. With a little heart-searching, I can craft my words to state my desire while being respectful to other entities. “I am worthy of having a quiet, unoccupied space around our campsite.” This feels more harmonious and states my desire to be alone for a few days.
Conclusion
For a very long time I struggled with understanding how to feel worthy without feeding ego. The deeper wisdom downloaded today and written above explains the difference. One can now clearly see that worthiness is spirit-based while a deserving is ego-based. And it matters little which of these words one uses. Rather, what matters is the energetic intention wrapped around the statement.
